Over the course of the last 30+ days I have been reading books recommended from Danelle Delgado, my coach and mentor. Although several books have been read, the one I am currently reading/listening to on replay is Grant Cardone’s book The 10X Rule. Over the next 31 days, I will be taking a deeper look at each of these qualities commonly found in successful people. Here we go…Be Interested in Results.
22. Be Interested in Results
Successful people don’t value effort or work or time spent on an activity; they value the results. Let’s face it: Like it or not, the results are all that matter. Be hard on yourself and never let yourself off the hook until you get results.
Thomas Whillhite founder of PSI Seminars said, “the only way to gauge a man is by his results, often harsh always fair.” This has been something that I have been taught over and over again in my career. Results are the only true measure of where you are and where you are going. Based on results; when I look back over my career and at success, I have to look at the times when I have created incredible results. I also have to look at the other results I have. They often tell us where our point A is in life. Where we are today is based on our results.
Recently we moved to Orange County. We made the move because for nearly three years I was commuting nearly 90 miles from Chula Vista, CA to Orange County, CA. Although it was 90 miles sometimes that drive would take up to 2.5 to 3 hours. I was constantly looking at the clock and making sure I left by a certain time to minimize the commute. During that time I spent a lot of time listening to books and podcast about success. Creating result is a topic that is brought up regularly when looking at success.
Another area we can look at is sports, this year the San Diego; I mean Los Angeles Chargers had one of their better seasons. However, based on results they did not have what it takes to make it to the Super Bowl. They had a great season, however their efforts fell short. A fan, like me, can make up a thousand excuses why they lost to the Patriots. However the bottom line is that the Patriots played better than the Chargers and they lost. Often harsh always fair, Results.
Having big goals and dreams will help you identify the results you have in your life. We set big goals and dreams when we want to challenge ourselves and go for something, more, better or different. Having big goals and dreams is the next success trait we will review. However, knowing whether or not your goals and dreams are big will be based on results, again, the only way to gauge a man or woman is by his or her results, often harsh, always fair.
Do you live your life based on results?
Living your life based on results, often harsh always fair is a challenge. It can be difficult to look at the results we have in our lives and not attempt to justify the results we do not like. That is why I have a business and personal coach in my life. To support me in getting the results I say I want. Even champions need help and run their business and life with a coach, a mentor, a program to move me forward.
